I sometimes ... wonder ... why can't I write something simple and short!? I read so many stories where the plot's done amazingly and all wrapped into this short, awesome, simple story that's still so amazing, you have the feeling that there's absolutely nothing missing, even if the plot's crammed into idk 2.000 words!? And 'm talking stories where the plot could easily be stretched into 20.000 words, yet it's done in 2.000 or so words and there's absolutely nothing missing in terms of feelings, scenes, dialogue, etc.
WHY?!?!?!?!??!!?!?!?! WHY?!?!?! I would have so many stories done, finished and posted if I could do that ... if I could neatly fold a plot into 2.000 words or so!!!
But noooo, I have to write damn novels, have to stretch the freakin' plot into 10.000 words or more ... *makes a gagging sound*
WHY?!
And even if I do somehow manage to write a story, and make it have a plot and be all nice, in 2.000 words or so, I always FEEL there's something missing and I have to edit and edit and edit until the story is 8.000 words long and here we go again!
I hate this, I really do. And I don't even know why this is such a problem - 's not like a lot of people read what I write - but it is and it's kinda driving me nuts!
*sigh*

Date: 2014-01-06 09:25 pm (UTC)I totally agree with you... a story follows its own lead, be it 2.000 words or 10.000 words. And in the end, it's the quality that counts, not the quantity, right? It's just that ... for once, I'd love to put a plot into a coherent story, that would only take around 2.000 words or so. And not stretch it out so much ...

Date: 2014-01-06 09:28 pm (UTC)See!? I can't even reply to a comment with one sentence ...
but it's awesome to know 'm not alone with this and that it's not just me who has problems shutting up while writing! :)

Date: 2014-01-06 09:36 pm (UTC)hahahah yeah, just like that ... I can do drabbles, and I can do stories with more than idk 5.000 words ... but to try and write something that has a head and a tail, with not so many words ... noup, can't do it and I want to do it ... but idk, maybe my plots are just really needy of words! idk *shakes head*
I love reading long stories, but not too long stories ... because then sometimes the plot is either too stretched out, or the ending is sooo rushed, because the author was maybe writing under deadline or just lost interest in the story.
But you are so right ... sometimes a story needs WORDS to fully develop everything, and that is why I admire those who can do that, while only writing a 2.000 words fic ...:)
I do enjoy my story telling, I just sometimes think that I'd write more, if I would be able to put plot into something shorter ... but well, in the end, it's quality that counts, right? Not quantity.

Date: 2014-01-06 09:43 pm (UTC)I've read your stories and you're able to put so much into less than 5.000 words! which hey, awesome!!! But I've noticed (while reading your stories) that you really really don't need to flesh them out, because they already are fleshed out! They have everything a good story needs ... so I say ... continue what you are doing, because it's perfectly awesome!

Date: 2014-01-06 09:51 pm (UTC)It seems to frustrate you but in my opinion you have a unique way of writing. I mean this special, goosebumps, engrossing way of writing :)

Date: 2014-01-06 09:58 pm (UTC)And it does frustrate me, a lot, because I always feel like I'm stepping over the edge of too much or not enough ... but in the end, I guess, if I'm happy with the finished product and if you (the readers) are happy, then ... all those too many words are worth it... :)

Date: 2014-01-07 10:56 am (UTC)No, thank YOU for reading and coming back here to read!! I do love writing and sharing stories, love doing that and as long as there will be people who read, I'll keep on doing it. :) I just sometimes wish I could write something short, but that it still has a plot! :) but as we discovered, the story takes as much words as it takes :)
thank you!

Date: 2014-01-07 11:45 am (UTC)haaha, how funny is it that you wanna write longer and I wanna write shorter!? We do make a pair! LOL
but your fics are awesome, they don't feel short, you know, because they have everything a good story needs ...and that is something I wanna do someday too ... short, sweet, to the point, but still with enough plot not to make the story feel ... well, lacking! LOL :)
and you and some of the other authors CAN do that ...
